Online learning gives us all the opportunity for continuing personal and professional development at times and in ways that suit us and our working and home lives.

Anyone interesting in either certified or uncertified courses could do a lot worse than sign up for one of the courses or specialisation offered by Coursera, Futurelearn, EdX and others. There is a *huge* range of courses on offer for free. If you choose the certification route, you sign up and pay for that a week or two into the course. It's not expensive. Your work is, in the main, either computer marked or peer reviewed. I've done numerous courses, some certificated, some not, some with future work in mind, some just for fun. I do most sincerely recommend you take a look at them.

I think online learning course can be beneficial to some people, but I don't think they'll ever be able to compete and replace the traditional college course that are offered.

I know a couple of people that have taken online courses and while they have found them useful, and have gained a lot of knowledge from then, they haven't been as thorough as other off-line courses they've taken.

I believe we really should make the best out of the internet, and take advantage of its perks such as those free online courses. I have heard about Udemy before. It is a site that offers various online courses about internet marketing and information technology for free. You may want to check them out.

I agree that the internet should be used for learning purposes and online course such as the ones mentioned can come in useful.

While I think a lot can be learned online and in a classroom though, is only part of the full learning process and sometimes on the job training as well is more beneficial in that respect.

You know I too believe online learning is quite beneficial especially to those who haven't had formal education, are single parents, students with multiple jobs and so on. Some of us don't have the luxury of time and transportation so the fact that colleges and websites are getting into the online education market is a great thing.

That's a pretty good idea for continuing education and learning if someone has the time to set aside for it.
