Google has recently announced a new feature for AdWords called Customer Matching. In a nutshell, you can upload an email list of your own (such as subscribers to your web site) and Google will check to see if it can match any of those email addresses to anyone using any of their products. You can then serve targeted ads to these users, whenever a match is made.

A similar feature has been around on other social media networks for a couple years now, but according to the tests done recently by Wordstream, Google is outperforming both Facebook and Twitter in the total number of emails it's able to match.
