“Don’t ever let somebody tell you you can’t do something, not even me. Alright? You dream, you gotta protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they wanna tell you you can’t do it. If you want something, go get it. Period.”
My favorite quote comes from the classic movie, Wizard of Oz. "You had the power all along, my dear", said by Glinda the Good Witch to Dorothy. It says that no other force is as powerful as the one that is within ourselves. That is great to remind ourselves.
"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done. Now, if you know what you’re worth, then go out and get what you’re worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain’t you. You’re better than that!” - Rocky Balboa
I do love that one from Pursuit Of Happyness, and it certainly fits well with the spirit of this forum. When I think of inspirational movies, though, I have to go with The Great Dictator, and especially Charlie Chaplin's speech at the end. "So long as men die, liberty will never perish" gets me every time.
You cannot live your life to please others. The choice must be yours.
– White Queen, Alice In Wonderland
This is true. Let's not waste our lives trying to fit in or trying to live up to other people's standards. By doing this, you might be pleasing others, but
are you making YOU happy?
Maybe at one point you felt happy cause you pleased one person but then there's tons of others to please. That is too tiring that it will exhaust you and leave you feeling discontented of yourself (you ended up feeling upset so the answer to the above question would be...no it won't make you happy)
You have to make major choices for yourself and not to please other people because those people won't live by that choice, who will? It's gonna be you.
Remember, you can't make everyone like you (AND you really don't have to.)
Be the best version of you.
