Hello everyone i wonder why we don't call it EntreprenuerFix took sometime for me to find it. So I started a solar company and i been working on fixing the website and finding what i can do to at least gain an email. I really don't know where to find the homeowners to sell solar to i tried groups of my area and been posting and i have got lead but no sale yet and i am getting frustrated. I want to go door to door but i would like to know if i could generate more sales online since everyone is talking about it. I am thinking of doing OSP but i want to know if Entrepreneurs use it for their lead generating not just referring. Thanks everyone i would really appreciate any advice.

Hi, Kevin. Welcome back.

Hello everyone i wonder why we don't call it EntreprenuerFix took sometime for me to find it.
BizWarriors was bought by BizWarriors in November 2016 and rebranded.

So I started a solar company and i been working on fixing the website and finding what i can do to at least gain an email.
What exactly does your company do in the solar industry?

We state in our forum rules: "Do not post links ask for reviews of your website unless you are specifically asked to do so by an Administrator or Moderator."

However, this is one of those cases where I am asking you to post it. An industry like yours these days (1) needs to rank well in local search which requires some additional search engine optimization; and (2) increasingly needs to be responsive so that it is easily viewed on smaller screens like tablets and smart phones. Missing wither one of those can leave your website virtually invisible. Post the link and I will check it out for you.

I really don't know where to find the homeowners to sell solar to i tried groups of my area and been posting and i have got lead but no sale yet and i am getting frustrated. I want to go door to door but i would like to know if i could generate more sales online since everyone is talking about it. I think you definitely want to be promoting a service like yours online in today's markets. At the same time, you shouldn't be relying on any single mode for marketing. Use a service like VistaPrint to create some business cards and postcards and drop those off in different neighborhoods, at local stores like grocery stores that have bulletin boards where you can place a postcard, ask local businesses like hardware and home improvement stores if they will allow you to leave some business cards or postcards on display (you can purchase holders from VistaPrint as well) - basically try to find places where you can get your name and the name of your business out there.

This is probably an excellent time of year to be starting marketing campaigns like that too, with the advent of spring in the northern hemisphere.

Using social media like Facebook is something else you should be doing... create a company page on Facebook, don't use your personal page, and get your friends to like it and spread the word via their friends.

I'm not familiar with the acronym OSP. In Canada, that can mean several things. Can you narrow that down for me?

Thanks @djbaxter for your reply. Yes OSP is Online Sales Pro it's a program that creates capture pages to get emails and numbers to generate leads. I want to try for my business. Now i want to know a business owner who really uses for there business not just a referral program.

Hi, Kevin.
In my country, very popular united discount system for clients - UDS Game.
Simply put, digitized word of mouth.
We implement this system in any business. Clients start inviting each other. Increases the traffic of customers. Look, maybe find for yourself something useful for your business.

I agree with everything @djbaxter said. You need to concentrate on local, and if it makes sense, online. I won't repeat all his advice but I think it's very sound.

Re squeeze/capture pages, many companies do that. Is OSP industry-specific in any way?

Best thing you can do for your business, Kevin, is automating your marketing. I've worked with some Solar guys before and they solely relied on door-to-door sales. However, once they did try online marketing automation and social advertising they where able to manage their business more efficiently and grow their client base.. load their pipeline with warm leads :)

Online lead generation is easy and cost effective way to get new leads. Online lead generation methods are,
  • Content Marketing
  • Customer referral
  • SEO, SEM and PPC
  • Cross Promotion
  • Social media
  • Direct Mailing
These are free medium you can go through which can be very complicated and tedious, instead you can go through some paid tools that provides you the leads and are also reliable such as,
  • LeadLake
  • FrescoData
These tools will help you to get enough leads you need and can help you to get quality leads.

Using publicity can help build your brand. Use online and offline announcements; for activities that support your local community events, clubs, or, new products, sales events. PR is good for building awareness but don't do it too much. Just another idea to consider.

You need to learn how to pitch yourself bro
No company can ever grow without sales... you need to find your audience and learn how to sell
I started out door to door and made incredible money
There is great money in door to door when you know how and it is especially good for your type of business of solar panels because it is for home owners, so go where your audience is

Internet marketing is a new trend, but door to door marketing is still effective. You should try this itself if possible, because some time sales persons provide fake remarks without visiting or you should try some sales force automation app like Feetport that help you to track your sale persons and you can get complete sales status and location status on your desktop or mobile.

Door to door is probably considered novel, now. So much of marketing is digital these days and younger people probably don't have much idea about offline marketing, unless they've been exposed to it, somehow.

Point is, people don't see it much anymore, so it may stand out.

Interesting point. Although as the recipient, I usually either don't answer the door or tell them before they can even get their sales pitch going, "No thanks. I'm really not interested.", and Im already starting to close the door as I say that.

I think the problem with door to door is that there have been so many annoying persistent salesmen and so many scams that no one trusts them anymore.

If you want to drop off a coupon or an advertising postcard, you can leave it in the mailbox or stick it in the door handle. If I'm interested, I'll call you. If you don't hear from me, it's because I'm not interested.

If door-to-door is exercised, then it is imperative to budget for and revisit the same locations at-least 3 or more times to re-enforce marketing message.

---EDIT---
DJ's comment made me realize that I was unclear about my post. A tool like Feetport can be utilized to possibly skip existing customers and keep track of number of times door-hangers have been used on a home; but, not to re-irritate someone for door-to-door sales.

If by "re-enforce marketing message", you mean drop off more ads in a "not in your face" way, okay.

If that means, knock on the same doors again, that would annoy the heck out of me and I'd make sure never to use that service.

I think the mark of a good salesman or marketer is someone who says we're here if you need someone who offers this service, not someone who annoys members of the potential market demographic.

Yep, that's what I meant; thank you for clarifying...

LOL, I can't even imagine anyone trying this...
"Hi Mr. X, I know you closed the door on me yesterday; but, the way you slammed it just made me think that you might change your mind today":p
