Great posting Alla.

Here is a short video showcasing AMP impact on someone's site.

Some readers may not be aware that a web usability trend is to have responsive website, which means that webpages will automatically be adjust to accommodated for mobile viewing. This is accomplished via client side browser through CSS. However, responsive pages do not consider the connection speed; thus, the user waits for the device to load large images.

The load delay lead to adaptive website, which provides different content (such as smaller images) based on target device. In contrast to responsive design; page contents are delivered by Server Side (SS) logic.

The combination of REsponsive and Server Side website leads to RESS design website.

The AMP goes one step past the Server Side by not loading all the content of the page; rather, they are loaded by javascript on demand.

These strategies are not mutually exclusive; that is, a site can implement all of them. However, it does take more effort to create content that is adaptive and AMP compatible. Responsive site, based on template, do not require minimum effort.

I also wanted to link to an article showing how to use AMP on WordPress; but, another plugin appears to be more feature rich. Also, there are adaptive wordpress plugins available.

Lastly, it is worth pointing out that the goal of these technologies is to improve user experience by reducing load times. Therefore, there is a need to compare performance results before/after implementation of technologies. For example, Performance of Plugins for WordPress should be reviewed after every installation; perhaps, as website owners we need to maintain a list of added-overhead load-times for each plugin.
