Morning everyone,

As the title states I am a young, early twenties, inspiring entrepreneur from the UK. I say entrepreneur like I have actually made that first step into entrepreneurship. Unfortunately I haven't and it is driving me crazy...

A little about me
I am extremely ambitious. Like extremely. I spend hours, every night, looking for that perfect execution or perfect starting idea. Also I am a super fast learner and have many skills in different industries mainly being design, leadership and analysis so when it comes to grinding down to my passions - I am lost.

I have a passion for being ambitious... But how can I profit from that? I only get a thrill from developing and helping others to do so. I have basic knowledge of how to set up websites and create logos too which helps a lot for online business, I guess?

To note, my career i going well but a career just doesn't cut it for me anymore. It's not even about the money it's just about the challenge and thrill of being a business owner/entrepreneur.

What I need help with
I need to know what I can do to take that first step to becoming an entrepreneur in a business I will continue to thrive in:
  • Being an ambitious generalist, where can I start with this?
  • What can I do to start monetizing myself, on a small scale? (To build up funds)
  • I have a great idea, like everyone, but I require funds to even get started with this. Where do you think will be able to offer me funds or mentoring being so young? (In the UK)
  • How can a young entrepreneur who has no contacts or friends who are as ambitious as me actually find these like minded people? (In the UK)
  • Just general advice. Like I mentioned above, I am a generalist at the moment and I am lost in finding what I can do to continue to develop my knowledge. If any one from experience in my footsteps please point me in the right direction? (I don't mean hold my hand and walk me to my first £1m, unless you're an investor)
Thanks
Please do not take this as a profile to advertise my skills, this is a genuine cry for help (And I don't usually cry I like to be quite masculine when I can).

Apologies if I have been quite demanding or unprofessional. I am new to networking with entrepreneurs online and others in the same position but I would like to know more.

I've noticed I may have asked for a lot of different areas and I'm not expecting you all to be able to answer these haha

It's brilliant to have signed up to a great network of people (Judging by the posts and press this site has had recently) and I hope you are willing to share some advice and tactics to add benefit to others reading this in the same stage as myself

Kindest Regards,

Mac

Can i ask you what's your idea about??

Dictionary: Entrepreneur
Entrepreneurship is the process of designing a new business, i.e. a startup company offering a product, process or service.

The entrepreneur perceives a new business opportunity and often exhibits biases in their perception and subsequent decision to exploit the opportunity.

The exploitation of entrepreneurial opportunities may include design actions such as to develop a business plan, acquire the human, financial and other required resources, and to be responsible for its success or failure.

As you can see, the first step of a true entrepreneur is to design something new and follow the process through to it's inevitable success or failure. An important point here is that one never gives up!

Ambition is not a skill. You cannot sell ambition. Every successful entrepreneur has ambition, but it is an internal trait that is unique to the individual and is most often an ancillary trait as a result of specific knowledge. For example, I am ambitious when it comes to some areas of business and have no ambitions with other areas, or types, of business.

You need to make to columns on a sheet of paper. On one side write down all of your current skills. On the other side, write down all of your current passions and interests.

This is an exercise that will give you insights as to what you can use for a basis to explore opportunities.

What I need help with
I need to know what I can do to take that first step to becoming an entrepreneur in a business I will continue to thrive in:

The first thing I would recommend is get an internship in a field that interests you so that you can get some first hand experience with what business people contend with on a daily basis. Keep sharp, ask loads of questions and take notes! Businesses are run by a collaborative control designed by the business owner(s). This is the experience you lack and you must gain this experience in order to properly pursue a life as an entrepreneur.

being an ambitious generalist, where can I start with this?

This is a quality, not a measurable asset that one can apply as a beginning to anything.

What can I do to start monetizing myself, on a small scale? (To build up funds)

What field of work have you experience? Maybe raise some money to get yourself incorporated. Get an internship, a part time job. Get some experience!

I have a great idea, like everyone, but I require funds to even get started with this. Where do you think will be able to offer me funds or mentoring being so young? (In the UK)

As for funds, well, no one gives people money for an idea. You need to develop an idea into a project, that project into a business, or prototype, or service. Once you have accomplished this, then you can claim to have something in which people can invest.

As for a Mentor, well, mentors seek out individuals with proven skills sets, knowledge, and experience in a given field. One does not just decide "I am going to get a mentor" and then they magically go get one. Education, accomplishments with a developed skill set, and a specific knowledge in a well defined field attract mentors.

You need to develop your skills, education, and experiences a bit before you can rely on being scoped by a mentor.

How can a young entrepreneur who has no contacts or friends who are as ambitious as me actually find these like minded people? (In the UK)

Okay, you need to go to where these people can be found. Business clubs, forums like BizWarriors, Universities & Colleges, mixers, gyms, golf courses, sporting events, etc. Get to know them socially and you will have the opportunity to speak more candidly with these people. You have to go where people are and develop relationships. The rest of your life is reliant on networking and social engagement.

Just general advice. Like I mentioned above, I am a generalist at the moment and I am lost in finding what I can do to continue to develop my knowledge. If any one from experience in my footsteps please point me in the right direction? (I don't mean hold my hand and walk me to my first £1m, unless you're an investor)
The most important thing for you right now is t get out into the world and find every means to meet new people and develop relationships, get an internship and get some first hand business experience, get more intimate with your interests and get them well defined.

this is a genuine cry for help.

Never show your desperations, NEVER! This is a sign of weakness to the sharks out there in the world.

Listen, we all appreciate a anyone that wants the future you seek. There are some experiences you must seek out and embrace with your "ambition"! At present, you have no direction. You have to get intimate with your interests in life and begin to prioritize them. Find what is really most important to you. With this you have the beginnings of direction and with direction you can select from millions of paths to develop your skills and knowledge.
